TAILGATE SPOTLIGHT: Amy Cipywnyk

Edmonton Elks games are exciting, but its the great fans of the Double E that make them a special experience. The gameday experience has become even better with the introduction of the EE Tailgate. Because of our great fans, the tailgate has become the go-to spot for fans to mingle before the game.

Over the course of the season, we want to highlight the incredible Season Seat Members that make the tailgate so special. We spoke with Amy Cipywnyk to see what she loves about the unique to football experience.

What made you want to take part in the EE Tailgating?

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Elks and football in general, so tailgating just felt like a natural way to connect with the community. It’s about more than just the game, it’s about the energy, the people, and the tradition. I wanted to be part of that excitement and help build something that brings fans together.

What has the gameday experience been like since you’ve started tailgating?

It’s been amazing. Gameday has become a full-day event now, not just a few hours watching football. There’s a real sense of camaraderie, grilling, music, playing games, and chatting with other fans who are just as passionate. It sets the tone for the game and makes the whole experience way more memorable.

What is the best part about tailgating?

The people, hands down. Everyone’s out there having a good time, sharing food, swapping stories, and getting hyped for the game. There’s this welcoming, electric atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger. Plus, it’s a chance to unwind and enjoy the community.

How has the atmosphere changed from the first year to now?

It’s definitely grown, there are more fans, more energy, and a lot more organization. At first, it felt like a small group of diehards, but now it’s expanded into something that really feels like a movement. You can tell the word is spreading and the passion is catching on.

What would you say to fans who have never checked out the tailgate?

You’re missing out! Even if you’re not a hardcore football fan, the tailgate is an experience in itself. It’s fun, it’s social, and it adds a whole new layer to gameday. Come down, meet some great people, enjoy the food and the vibe and who knows, you might end up making it a regular tradition.
