The Edmonton Elks signed American defensive back Malik Sonnier and Canadian offensive lineman Jaylan Guthrie on Tuesday in advance of their Week 6 matchup with the Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on Thursday.
Sonnier joins the active roster. The first-year pro returns to the Elks after being released on June 27. He played one game with the Elks, registering three defensive tackles in Edmonton’s season-opening loss to the B.C. Lions.
Guthrie joins the practice roster. A fourth-round draft pick of the Calgary Stampeders in 2019, Guthrie has dressed for two games with one start in his CFL career, as a member of the Ottawa RedBlacks last season.
