Eskimos quarterback Trevor Harris and running back C.J. Gable are CFL Players of the Week in Week 1 for their performances in Edmonton’s 32-25 victory over the Montreal Alouettes last Friday.
Harris, in his first game with the Green and Gold, completed 32 of 41 pass attempts for 447 yards and three touchdowns. He also had seven carries for 12 yards and one touchdown.
Gable came out to the start the season with 154 yards on the ground on only 20 carries while also catching three passes for 29 yards – including a highlight reel touchdown to start the fourth quarter.
This is the eighth time the Eskimos offence has surpassed 600+ yards of offence and the first time since Aug. 1997, when the offence amassed 644 yards against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
CFL Players of the Week are chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
