Eskimos Mitchell and Reilly Named CFL Players of the Week

Eskimos wide receiver Bryant Mitchell and quarterback Mike Reilly are CFL Players of the Week for Week 18 for their performances in Edmonton’s 34-16 victory over the Ottawa RedBlacks last Saturday.

Mitchell went off for a career-best 13 receptions and 190 yards on Saturday night, also getting into the endzone once on a 75-yard touchdown reception. So far this season, Mitchell’s third with the Green and Gold, he has appeared in nine games and has caught 46 passes for 653 yards and two touchdowns.

Reilly helped lead the Green and Gold to their eighth win of the season when he threw for 369 yards and one touchdown, completing 31 of 38 pass attempts. He also finished with 10 carries for 72 yards.

Reilly continues to lead the league in passing yards with 4,974 and has thrown for 28 touchdowns. He also is tied for the league lead in rushing touchdown with 12.

This is Mitchell’s first time being named a CFL Play of the Week and this is the seventh time Reilly has received national honours this season – He was previously named a CFL Player of the Week for Weeks 1, 7, 10 and 13. He was also CFL Player of the Month for June and August.

CFL Players of the Week are chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
