On Wednesday afternoon, the Edmonton Eskimos played host to nearly 200 high-risk children in a free flag football camp – a first of its kind partnership with Free Footie.
Eskimos players safety Neil King, long-snapper Ryan King, defensive tackle Almondo Sewell, kicker Grant Shaw and offensive lineman Justin Sorensen, as well as Eskimos staff guest coached, leading the children through four interactive football stations in the Field House at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium.
Free Footie is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring any boy or girl in grade three-to-six, who attends a school in the areas served, can participate in sports. There are no registration fees and every child is provided with all equipment needed.
The Edmonton Eskimos are proud to partner with Free Footie for the camp and share the belief in the power of sport to build community and create change.
