This last off-season was a pretty good one. I went to the Dominican Republic. I also was able to go to Russia for the Winter Olympics so that was pretty cool. I was out there watching my brother play hockey and got to witness him win a gold medal.
I love to golf. My handicap isn’t very good, probably in the 25 range.
Probably the locker room. Right from the jump, I got in and got to meet all the guys. You could tell right away they’re a welcoming group. Everyone is laughing all the time and that really makes the transition nice.
I mean, as a football player Jerry Rice is an icon so I’d like to see him.
My parents influenced me the most. They were always the type of people who would do anything for my brother and I, and they allowed us to do anything. They were getting up at 5:30 in the morning to take us to hockey practices and football practice afterwards. They would still put food on the table. Any time you can do that, it instills the work ethic that we needed and it obviously translated to success.
It kind of chose me. I still play non-contact hockey in the off-season, but it came to a time in grade 12 where I wanted to be a captain on the football team, so I quit hockey to dedicate my time to that. The rest is history.
I hang out with my wife and dogs a lot. Her and I enjoy going out for supper, movies or hanging out with friends. The odd time I will play a little poker.
I cliff jumped in the Shuswap lakes. I was out there house boating with a couple buddies and we wandered off on a Sea-Doo and we found a cliff that looked like we could scale it and jump off. It was a sketchy move, but we jumped from a little higher than 10 metres up. It was a rush.
I have two in green and purple. Green is colour I get to go out and play in so that’s pretty good.
