Eskimos Donate $5,000 to Tackle Hunger

The Edmonton Eskimos announced a $5,000 donation to the Edmonton Food Bank on Wednesday morning.

The Esks $5K donation equates to 10,000 pounds of food to feed Edmonton’s less fortunate.

This is the third consecutive year the Eskimos have donated $5,000 to the food bank.

Today’s donation is in advance of Friday’s Purolator Tackle Hunger game when the Edmonton Eskimos take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders. 8 p.m. kickoff.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food or a cash donation ($1=2 pounds of food) for the  Purolator Tackle Hunger Food Drive. In exchange, you get your photo taken with the Grey Cup (Hello, Instagram!) and are entered to win an autographed JC Sherritt helmet and jersey.

“We know that current economic circumstances are very difficult for many people within our community.  We also know that our Edmonton Eskimos fans always step up to help their fellow citizens.,” says Eskimos President and CEO Len Rhodes.

Donations are accepted at all stadium gates on game day. The Grey Cup trophy will be at Gate 9.

The Edmonton Eskimos and Purolator have teamed up for 14 seasons as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.
