At a private ceremony on Friday, Eskimos players received their Grey Cup rings. Beyond their stunning beauty, there is a story behind each element:
- There are 141 diamonds
- 2.8 karats total weight of diamonds
- The EE logo is made up of 16 diamonds, set in yellow gold, to represent the 16 wins of the 2015 season
- There are 68 diamonds on the side, one for every player who played during the season
- There are 24 princess cut, square cut diamonds to represent the 12 offensive and 12 defensive players on the field during the game
- The top of the ring reads “GREY CUP CHAMPIONS”
- An additional 14 stones surround the words to represent the total number Grey Cups won by the Eskimos
The Green and Gold won the Grey Cup championship last November against the Ottawa RedBlacks in Winnipeg following a 10-game win streak.
