
The Edmonton Eskimos have re-signed free agent linebacker JC Sherritt, keeping him in Green and Gold through 2017.
Last season, the Eastern Washington product recorded 71 defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and 13 special teams tackles in 18 games (18 starts). He also had two interceptions, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four knockdowns.
En route to winning the 103rd Grey Cup, Sherritt recorded six defensive tackles in the West Final against Calgary and four defensive tackles in the Grey Cup championship game against Ottawa.
Entering his sixth CFL season, Sherritt amassed 351 career defensive tackles, 41 special teams tackles, 12 quarterback sacks and nine interceptions. In 2012, he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and a CFL All Star.
Sherritt originally signed as a free agent on April 20, 2011 and re-signed on Dec. 19, 2012.
He is the second free agent signed by Edmonton in as many days. On Tuesday, the Eskimos announced the re-signing of running back John White, keeping him in Green and Gold through 2017.
