West Final Winter Clothing Drive

When the Edmonton Eskimos host the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL West Final on Sunday November 22, the Green and Gold, CORUS Entertainment and Goodwill will partner for a clothing drive to support Albertans with physical and mental disabilities.

Fans are asked to donate new or gently-used winter clothing at Gates 2, 6, 9 and 13 during the division final playoff game. Jackets, mittens, toques and other cold weather items are encouraged.

Thanks to the generous donation of Eskimos fans and Goodwill retail customers throughout the year, Goodwill is able to provide job training and career services for people with disabilities.

“The Edmonton Eskimos play an active role in social responsibility,” says Len Rhodes, Eskimos President and CEO. “As we approach the winter season, it is an opportune time for our fans to clean out their closets for a great cause.”

Approximately 410,000 Albertans live with physical and mental disabilities every day. Goodwill is there to help these individuals find meaningful employment and the dignity that comes from a well-earned pay cheque.

“Goodwill Industries of Alberta is proud to partner with the Edmonton Eskimos and CORUS Entertainment for the winter clothing drive. By donating winter clothes at Commonwealth Stadium on November 22 during the Western Final or at any one of Goodwill’s 13 area donation centers, supporters of Goodwill can make such a difference in the lives of Albertans with disabilities,” says Dale Monaghan, Goodwill President and CEO.

“When people donate clothes and household goods to Goodwill or shop at one of our seven area stores, Goodwill converts this generosity into career development and job placement for Albertans with disabilities.  When you donate and shop, people get jobs!”

The division championship game returns to Commonwealth Stadium for the first time since 2003. The Edmonton Eskimos take on the Calgary Stampeders on November 22 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at HERE.
