
This year’s Eskimos Team Award winners are:
Eskimos Team Award winners were selected by CFL head coaches and voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada.
In this first ballot, FRC representatives from each CFL city, plus the respective head coach, submitted votes for the six categories. Voters were asked to select players from their local CFL club who, through on-field performance excellence, best represent the award titles.
The East and West Division awards will be announced on Thursday, November 12. The 2015 league top honours will be handed out on Thursday November 26 in Winnipeg, MB at a sold out event at 6:30 p.m. MT.
Mike Reilly | Quarterback | Most Outstanding Player
In 10 games (nine starts) this season, Reilly completed 214-of-329 passes for 2,449 yards, 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions en route to engineering an eight-game win streak. He also rushed 66 times for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He is a three-time CFL Player of the Week award winner, earning the honours in Weeks 12, 18 and 19.
Dexter McCoil | Linebacker | Most Outstanding Defensive Player
In 18 games (18 starts), the second-year Eskimo recorded a team-leading 76 defensive tackles, seven special teams tackles, three interceptions, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Sean Whyte | Kicker/Punter | Most Outstanding Canadian
Whyte made his Eskimos debut in Week 11 against Calgary. In eight games, he made 24-of-26 field goal attempts. In Week 15, he hit the game winning field goal on last play against Winnipeg to clinch a home playoff game. He added 14-of-14 converts and punted 59 times for 2,401 yards and three singles.
D’Anthony Batiste | Right Tackle | Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
Batiste is an integral member of the offensive line who played in and started all 18 games at the right tackle position.
Deon Lacey | Linebacker | Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
Played in the all 18 games of the regular season, recording 19 defensive tackles, six quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 22 special teams tackles to lead the Green and Gold.
Derel Walker | Wide Receiver | Most Outstanding Rookie
The Texas A&M product began the season on the Eskimos practice roster before he was activated in Week 8. Walker set a team receptions record for first-year players after amassing 89 catches for 1,110 yards with six touchdowns in 12 games (10 starts). He is a three time CFL Player of the Week in Weeks 10, 14, 19 and CFL Player of the Month for August.
The Edmonton Eskimos earned the top spot in the West Division and will host the CFL West Final on November 22 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
