
The Edmonton Eskimos have signed national safety Cauchy Muamba to a contract extension, keeping him in Green and Gold through 2017.
En route to the Eskimos 13-4 record, Muamba recorded 25 defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and three interceptions, including a two-pick night against the Calgary Stampeders in the Labour Day Rematch.
Since signing with Edmonton as a free agent on Aug. 21, 2014, Muamba recorded 31 defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and four interceptions in 23 games.
Originally selected by the BC Lions in the fifth round of the 2010 CFL Draft, the native of Kinshasa, Congo amassed 124 defensive tackles, 23 special teams tackles, three quarterback sacks and nine interceptions.
Before joining the pro ranks, he finished his collegiate career as St. Francis Xavier’s all-time leader in tackles with 149.5.
