Esks Add Three to Practice Roster

Today, the Edmonton Eskimos signed defensive end Sammy Brown, defensive back Michael Carter and wide receiver/kick returner Sederrik Cunningham to the practice roster.

94 – Sammy Brown
Defensive End (international)
College: Houston
Born: April 17, 1990 – Hattiesburg, MS
Height: 6.02
Weight: 240

In two seasons at the University of Houston (2010-11), Brown recorded 169 tackles (99 solo) and 21 sacks. Prior to the University of Houston, he spent two seasons at Gulf Coast Community College where he recorded 64 tackles, one forced fumble and two interceptions.  

He previously spent time with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins.

29 – Michael Carter

College: Maryland
Born: April 28, 1986 – Windsor, ON
Height: 5.10
Weight: 181
Years in CFL: 5

Carter was originally selected by the BC Lions in the third round (19th overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft. During his rookie season, he recorded one special teams tackle. He spent the following two seasons (2012-13) with the Montreal Alouettes, recording 15 defensive tackles and nine special teams tackles. This season, the University of Maryland product recorded four defensive tackles and two special teams tackles with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

82 – Sederrik Cunningham

Born: July 14, 1989 – Zephyrhills, FL

In 10 games (two starts) with the Calgary Stampeders last season, Cunningham recorded four catches for 61 yards and one touchdown. He also returned 34 kickoffs for 734 yards and 32 punts for 358 yards and a touchdown. He was named the Stampeders Most Outstanding Rookie.  During the 2014 Grey Cup Playoffs, he returned seven punts for 39 yards and three kickoffs for 34 yards in the West Final. In the Grey Cup championship, he returned five punts for six yards, one kickoff for 20 yards and caught two passes for 21 yards. This season, he recorded one catch for 21 yards with Calgary.

He previously spent time with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers.
