The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club has acquired international offensive lineman Brian Simmons from Hamilton in exchange for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.
Simmons spent his entire five-year career (2011-15) with the Tiger-Cats, playing at both left tackle and right guard. Last season, he was named an East Division All-Star and the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Lineman. The 6-5, 310-pound native of Raleigh, North Carolina, played 61 career games and six playoff games, including two Grey Cup appearances in 2013 and 2014.
This the second trade in as many days. On Wednesday, the Eskimos traded quarterback Matt Nichols to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.
The team returns to practice today ahead of Monday’s Labour Day Classic in Calgary.
