The Canadian Football League announced Eskimos wide receiver Derel Walker has been named a CFL Player of the Month for August.
Walker started the season on the practice roster and in the first three games of his career, the rookie recorded 31 receptions for 472 yards. He averaged 157 yards per game and 16 yards per reception this month. A former Texas A&M Aggie, Walker is 11th in the CFL in total receiving yards and recorded his first touchdown last week against Toronto.
This is Walker’s second league award this season. He was named a CFL Player of the Week for Week 10 yesterday for his seven reception, 164 yard performance in the Eskimos 38-15 victory last Friday.
