
The Canadian Football League has named Eskimos quarterback James Franklin, kick returner/slotback Kendial Lawrence and wide receiver Derel Walker as the top players in Week 10 for their performances in Friday’s 38-15 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
In his first CFL start, first-year Eskimo Franklin completed 29-of-38 passes for 335 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the air. He also rushed the ball four times for 51 yards and another touchdown.
A second-year veteran, Lawrence recorded a 64-yard punt return touchdown four minutes into the fourth quarter. He finished with 263 all-purpose yards, including 192 yards on 10 returns, 52 yards on seven receptions and 19 yards on one carry.
Rookie receiver Walker recorded seven receptions for 164 yards and one touchdown. He now has 31 receptions for 472 yards in three games – 11th in the CFL in receiving yards.
This is first CFL Top Players of the Week honour this season for Franklin, Lawrence and Walker.
CFL Top Players of the Week are chosen by a panel of judges including former CFL players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
