(Edmonton) The Eskimos are preparing kick off their 2012 home schedule on Thursday night versus the BC Lions in their second and final preseason game.

Being the final tuneup before the regular season is underway on June 30, the veterans will see their first game action of the year to mainly ensure that their speed and timing are on track for the long season ahead.

Head Coach Kavis Reed explained after Monday’s practice that he plans for both Steven Jyles and Kerry Joseph to see a full quarter each under centre to establish a definite rhythm with the first-team offense.

One of the most anticipated additions to the lineup is SB Fred Stamps, who will return to game action for the first time this season as he is finally feeling close to 100%. Stamps suffered an inadvertent kick to the groin in Winnipeg on August 5th which had the potential to be season-ending, however he only missed three games before recording his third straight 1,000-yard campaign.

WR Dobson Collins is expected to make his first appearance versus the Lions who released him in August, allowing the green and gold to sign the former Gardner-Webb star.

Game time is set for 7pm. Be sure to turn in to 630 CHED or log on to esks.com for a live webcast of the matchup.
