(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos and Edmonton Oilers presented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton with a $10,000 cheque today.

Eskimo President & CEO Len Rhodes and Oilers President and COO Patrick LaForge presented the cheque to Ross Tyson, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton.

The cheque was donated as part of an April Fool’s joke that would have seen both teams face off against each other in a hockey game at Rexall Place and a football game at Commonwealth Stadium. The loser of the two-game total-points series would make a $10,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton.

Several hours after making the announcement, both teams revealed it was, in fact, an April Fool’s joke and that the teams would make a joint donation of $10,000.

A post on twitter was also sent out by both organizations ending the joke and announcing the donation.

From the Official Esks Twitter Account: @cfl_esks
“We hope our April Fool’s joke brought a smile to your day. The winner is the Boys and Girls Club, which will receive 10k from the Oil and Esks.”
