Eskimos mourn the passing of Earl Lindley (1933 – 2012)

(Edmonton) Earl Lindley, a member of the Edmonton Eskimos’ dynasty teams of the mid-1950’s, died Feburary 14th at age 78 in Logan, Utah.

A graduate of Utah State University, Lindley led the nation in scoring in 1953. Signed by Edmonton the following year, Lindley joined the Esks as they won consecutive Grey Cups in 1954, ’55 and ’56.   His career was cut short in 1957 by a shoulder injury.

Earl returned to Utah where he launched a successful coaching career at the high school and college levels.  He was later inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, the Utah State Sports Hall of Fame and the Sky View High School Hall of Fame.

Earl Lindley is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, five children, 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
