(Edmonton) The Grande Prairie Warriors, who lost four players in a motor vehicle accident last month, will attend Sunday’s CFL West Division Semi-Final game as special guests of the Edmonton Eskimos.
Vincent Stover, 16, Walter Borden-Wilkins, 15, Matthew Deller, 16, and Tanner Hildebrand, 15 were killed in the October 22 crash. 15-year old Zachary Judd remains in hospital.
Eskimo President and CEO Rick LeLacheur says, “These young men, their families and their coaches have been through such a difficult time that we wanted them to have an enjoyable and memorable experience at the playoff game.”
The Eskimos will pay for a night’s stay in Edmonton and provide tickets to the game for the Warriors.
The Esks and Stampeders displayed the Warriors logos on their helmets for the final two regular season games to honour the crash victims.
The Grande Prairie Warriors face the Bev Facey Falcons from Sherwood Park in the Northern Semi-Final game this Saturday at noon at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton.
