(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo President and CEO Rick LeLacheur announced today that linebacker Larry Wruck and kicker Sean Fleming will have their names added to the club’s Wall of Honour at Commonwealth Stadium during a special halftime ceremony on Monday, October 10th when the Eskimos host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
In making the announcement, LeLacheur says, “Larry Wruck and Sean Fleming embody the very best qualities of the Edmonton Eskimos. Both were exceptional players who were champions on and off the field.”
Larry Wruck played 12 seasons (1985 -1996) with the Esks, won two Grey Cups (1987 & 1993) and is second on the club’s all-time list with 647 defensive tackles.
Wruck says, “I always dreamed of one day playing in the CFL and having lived that dream was amazing. To have my name added to the Edmonton Eskimo Wall of Honour means more than I can explain. I want to congratulate my former teammate Sean Fleming on his well deserved induction, and would like to thank all of the Eskimo fans and the Eskimo organization for this great honour.”
A three-time Grey Cup winner (1993, 2003, 2005), Sean Fleming played 16 seasons (1992-2007) for the Eskimos and is the club’s all-time scoring leader (2571) and second on the Esks’ all-time list for games played (268).
Fleming says “It is an honour to be recognized by an organization that has played such a significant role in my life. It is made even more special that I am being inducted alongside my former teammate, locker-mate and friend Larry Wruck. I’d like to thank all those teammates who I’ve shared the field with over 16 seasons and, in particular, the fans who made playing in the City of Edmonton truly special.”
Wruck and Fleming are the 27th and 28th players to have their names added to the Wall of Honour at Commonwealth Stadium.
