EDMONTON – Purolator, Canada’s largest courier company, is proud to host the ninth annual Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank at the Eskimos vs. BC Lions game on Friday, August 19 at Commonwealth Stadium. All proceeds from the food drive will support Edmonton’s Food Bank.
Purolator is encouraging Edmonton football fans to help tackle hunger by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation to the Purolator volunteers stationed at the stadium gates. In return, fans will have the opportunity to receive a souvenir photo with the Grey Cup and enter a draw to win two tickets to the 2011 Grey Cup in Vancouver. In addition to the food drive, every time a CFL quarterback gets sacked throughout the regular season, Purolator will donate the equivalent of the quarterback’s weight in food to the CFL hometown food bank.
Last year, Edmonton football fans helped raise 72,101 pounds of food – that’s 14% more than in 2009 – for the Edmonton Food Bank. Since 2003, Edmonton football fans have helped raise 435,144 pounds of food through the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.
